Cheddar First Pre-school is an integral part of Cheddar First School, providing families with a supportive service dedicated to providing high quality care and promoting learning for all children. A team of experienced and well-qualified staff build excellent relationships with our children and their families so we know our children are happy and secure and parents feel confident and reassured. We are proud members of the Wessex Learning Trust, offering a seamless education journey.

Located in the grounds of Cheddar First School, our pre-school provides a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment for all children aged 0-4 years old. Our purpose built building has three different rooms offering environments structured to support age appropriate development: Chicks (0-2 year olds), Fledglings (2-3 year olds) and Earlybirds (3-4 year olds). Our stimulating play based approach permeates inside and outside learning opportunities. Our outside learning environment includes direct access to the forest school, school fields and pond area. All children attending our pre-school have an on-line learning journal where parents are regularly informed about their child’s care, learning and progress. Parents are able to contribute to this profile to build up a full picture of each unique child and their development.

As part of Cheddar First School, we work very closely with the Reception class teachers. This enables the children to become familiar with the adults in school and to ensure a smooth and seamless transition when they begin their Reception year.
