New Playground Equipment!

  • Playground Transformation – A message from the FPTA

We are absolutely delighted to see the opening of the new playground – to see all the excited faces of the children as they proceed over the ‘Limestone Trail’ adventure course and clamber on the ‘Gorge Climber’ is totally worth all the hard work involved in completing this project.

Our initial plan for the playground just over a year ago was an exciting project based on a collaborative approach to involve not just the school community but also the wider village of Cheddar, the surrounding area and its community. We have been bowled over by the response from the children, friends and families of the school and the local businesses. We are also extremely grateful to some very talented Dads who have expertly created the ‘Lion Rock’ stage (thank you Oli Lee from With Bear Hands) and our fabulous kiosks (thank you Chris Isgar from CJI Building) – the ‘Strawberry Line’ train now has a ticket office!

Our local businesses have been amazing by supporting us as venues for our collection pots and by donating so generously. The children and parents who have performed some great sponsored events over the last year (some lasting the duration of the year!) have done brilliantly. A big thank you also to everyone who donated money or attended events for this very successful appeal. We hope the children have lots of happy play times.

    A message from Mrs Wookey

On behalf of the children, staff and governors I would like to add my thanks to everyone who has worked so hard and given so generously of their time and money to complete this project. The children are really enjoying playing with all the different types of equipment and have been very good at taking turns and following their own rules: No pushing, pulling or shaking each other or the equipment, take your time and help each other.

It is lovely to see the children playing on the equipment before and
after school but can I please remind you that school staff do not supervise the playground at these times and if you choose to let your child/ren play on the equipment before and after school they are your responsibility and you do so at your own risk.
